To support HIV-positive college students and ensure an ailment doesn’t impact their studies, SafeSTD offers scholarships to concerned students. The scholarship rewards range between $250 to $5,000 depending upon the student’s HIV status and application.

Scholarship Requirements
Who Can Avail This Scholarship?
- You must be a U.S. citizen enrolled in or applying for a full-time college degree in the United States.
- You must have tested positive for HIV, and be ready to submit your SafeSTD HIV test as proof.
- You must offer official transcripts from previous academic years or high school.
- You need to submit an essay on your history and journey as an HIV-positive person, mentioning how you contracted HIV and how it impacted your life.
When and How Will I Be Notified?
After we review your application and assess your essay, we’ll configure whether you are eligible for the scholarship, and if yes, then what amount. We try our best to reach out to the applicants as soon as possible based on their application and the timing of next semester. Generally, we notify applicants about the status of their application by the end of the following months-
- March
- June
- September
- December
What Essay Will I Have to Write and Why?
To make sure we offer the highest amounts to the most deserving candidates, we ask the applicants to write an essay. This helps us assess their need and dedication to getting the scholarship. We expect the applicant to mention in the essay under what circumstances they got HIV infection. You must also describe how it has affected your life, and what advice would you give to other HIV-positive people to spread awareness.
Based on your essay, we’ll decide your competence to avail of the scholarship.
